Skemman: A repository of academic and research documents

Skemman

Skemman is a digital repository where final theses of all university students at the bachelor's and master's levels are preserved.

Students are required to submit an electronic copy of their final thesis to Skemman.is, in accordance with the Rules on submission of final theses at RU. Final theses become publicly visible in Skemman after graduation.

Final theses should be openly accessible in Skemman in accordance with RU's open access policy. However, authors have the right to request restricted access if the thesis contains information that should reasonably remain confidential.

Final theses from 2009 and earlier are available in print at the library service desk unless they contain confidential information. From 2010 onward, when RU began submitting to Skemman, final theses at bachelor's and master's levels have only been available in digital format.

Guidelines for final theses:
Students are encouraged to familiarize themselves with handbooks, procedures, or other guidelines regarding final theses within their department. Usually, these handbooks, rules, and guidelines can be found on the course website for the final thesis in Canvas. If students enrolled in a final thesis course cannot access these documents, they should contact their department office.

If any issues arise during submission to Skemman, students may contact the library at skemman@ru.is.
